Roller derby history:

Philly Roller Derby, 2015

Charlottesville Derby Dames May 2011-May 2015
Philadelphia Roller Derby May 2015-present

I was in graduate school in Charlottesville. I had just seen the movie whip it. I thought the movie was great and had recently seen a flyer around the mall for try outs. I tried out as a bit of joke at first. I had never played a contact sport. At the first practice I kept falling every 5 seconds due to the lack of experience on roller skater. The coach told me he thought I had some potential and that I should give it a try. I came back the next week and met so many amazing people and skaters and I was hooked. This sport has changed my entire life.

Also plays for:

Proudest derby moment to date:

"I have two moments. Charlottesville Derby Dames went to Nashville for a bout. We were expected to loose against this team, but wanted to at least beat the point differential. The Nashville team had been talking about how they were going to beat us all day on the radio. We ended up beating Nashville in an extremely close game. It was the first game I had no penalties and 100% lead jammer status. It was also the moment that literally fulfilled everything I had hoped for in derby. It proved to me and my teammates that we were a top level team. We had worked so hard to get to the point where we could beat a D1 team. When I joined CDD, we didn't even have an all star team or a WFTDA team. To go from that to beating a D1 team in two years was just an amazing experience.

My second moment was when i transferred to PRD. I had just found out my previous team made it into the D1 tournament. I was so proud of them, but also sad that I was going to miss out on going to my very first divisional tournament. PRD had their charter try out and I knew it would be very difficult to make the charter of a top ten team. I worked my butt off and somehow made their charter. I was so excited to realize that I was not only capable of making a charter on such an elite team, but to be able to accomplish my goals of going to a divisional tournament. "

Pre/post bout rituals:

I eat a slice of pizza and a redbull. It is about the only thing that I can keep down. I generally wear my favorite sports bra and am pretty particular about which socks I wear. I am all about dance parties in my car before a game. I always run a lap on my toe stops before the game starts.

When not on the track, where can we expect to find you?

At the hospital working, at school, doing random activities like dancing, circus aerials, hiking, bars!

The superhero I most identify with is:

Katniss Everdeen.
