Philly Roller Derby (PRD) has been the regional premiere derby league for over a decade. The league is a member of the nonprofit, 501(c)(3) Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA).
Our mission is to develop and promote strength and athleticism in people of all ages through regular, intense training and high-level local, regional, national, and international competition. Working within Philly Roller Derby provides members many varied opportunities to develop leadership skills and self-esteem. An important focus for us is developing relationships with other nonprofit groups and charities, to actively support our community.
The WFTDA is comprised of over 460 member leagues throughout six continents. WFTDA sets the international standards for rankings, rules, and competition each year and provides guidance and resources to the sport of flat track derby. PRD follows the guidance of the WFTDA and is committed to inclusive and anti-discrimination practices in relation to all transgender women, intersex women, and gender expansive participants, and aims to ensure that all skaters’, volunteers’, and employees’ rights are respected and protected.
Philly Roller Derby’s mission is simple: to promote health, athleticism, and leadership skills in people of all ages through roller derby training and competition.
Working with the organization provides our members with varied opportunities to develop leadership skills and self-esteem, which positively impacts our skaters both on and off the track. PRD strives to develop relationships with other nonprofit organizations and charities and to support groups within our home city of Philadelphia and beyond.
There’s a place for you in PRD. We are an inclusive league and an inclusive sport. We welcome folks from all backgrounds and skating levels.
