Home Teams

Home Teams

PRD drafts skaters onto three home teams each year. The home teams mix eligible PRD skaters of all skill levels to encourage skaters to grow as athletes, coaches, and members of the PRD community. For fans, the home teams promise fierce competition among skaters who know each other’s strengths, weaknesses, and habits. Hometeam bouts are an awesome mix of PRD’s competitive spirit and community love.

The home team season runs February to April with all three teams vying for the Citywide Championship. Tickets to all home team bouts are available via ticketleap.

2018 – Germantown Loose Cannons
2019 – Passyunk Punks

The Passyunk Punks

Legend has it that long ago, late one night under the full moon, a roller derby player and the leader of a local punk band were both visiting the fountain inside Passyunk Square. As they both went to toss their coin and wish into the water, suddenly lighting struck the fountain and their bodies formed into one; the first Passyunk Punk. Since that day, she’s recruited her army of punks, throwing them in mosh pits to teach them to hit hard and keep going, molding the team we all know and fear today.

Germantown Loose Cannons

After the 1777 Battle of Germantown, several rogue members of the American Continental Army realized that fighting the British had become child’s play, and decided to take up the greatest battle of all time: Philadelphia roller derby. After centuries of boot camp, these Loose Cannons showed their training paid off with the historic win at the Battle of Home Team Championships, 2017 and 2018.

West Philly Warriors

You all know the story of PRD’s West Philly Warriors… In West Philadelphia, born and raised, on the skating rink is where we spent most of their days. Chilling out, maxing, relaxing all cool, and skating in some jams, outside of the school, when a couple of guys who were up to no good started making trouble in our neighborhood. We got in one little fight and our moms got scared they said, ‘You’re moving with your Derby league into the Jawn’.
